I'm in the middle of my install at the moment, and I'm trying to sort out the Alpine iDA-x305 headunit with my dash.
Honestly I don't understand the different between the DIN and ISO mounting methods - is there something I should know? I went with the ISO Mounting method.. (I am using the Metra kit from Crutchfield)
Here is a picture of the thing installed:

First of all, the front piece (that clips into the section above the pocket, infront of the headunit) is flimsy, and can move around.
Second, there are gaps above and below the unit, which you can see in the picture.
Third, (not as important) the unit is farther into the dash than I would have expected.. is this normal?
Thanks.

i had the same problem with my old alpine hu, i had the IDA-X100.
its the dash kit and there isnt allot you can do unless you want to mount the cage with screws farther forward... still wont fix the gaps
heres my old one

I used this one off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Nissan-2003-2005...713.m153.l1262 and it looks perfect! Cheap too. Has its own trim ring. I used the DIN method to mount but you will need the sleeve that came with you radio. Mounts very solid. Very happy

I'm not sure actually, I remounted using the other method and now that it is installed and bolted in.. it seems decent. Except for the radio being farther back then I expected. Are you sure its the wrong kit?

Ok........I found the pictures on my NAS. I have two of them and after looking at your HU, I would agree that your dash kit may be the wrong one. But take notice, my unit sits slightly back too.
The only issue that I have is when I want to eject a cd (because the faceplate flips down) it is difficult to get to the button that releases the face place.
How did I get around that? I keep a special cd of the music in there that I know I will listen to over and over. I had the installer put an Alpine 6 cd changer in the "glove compartment."

06+ Dash kit. This is the proper one, but also looks jacked up in the pics when installed just like mine with the guys above. I have yet to find one that the pocket doesn't look warped and the gap.

Bump for more input. No offense guys - but that looks pretty bad... any other options here other than doing some custom fab work?
I was hoping to put in a HU.. now having second thoughts.
