i would like to hear the 1.5 inch spacer people's door buzzing at moderate to high volumes, the few i messed with and a half dozen or so i have heard, all suffer greatly from it. removing or cutting hte factory grille helps, but the door still buzzes heavily.

at some point bud, its simple physics, either you make it fit with another spacer, or it ownt fit like it. no amount of experience or suggestions is going to make a speaker that cant fit...fit...

its not about mounting depths, as mentioned, its motor size. a much depper sepaker with a small motor can fit cuase the motor can clear the window, where as a much shallower speaker, with a big basket and motor will not, beucsa ehte window hits hte motor.

if it doesnt sound good wtih just hte sepaker there, not sure if its gonna get better once the door card goes back on, infact, i tiwll in all likelihood sound worse. as i have always said, its very much not about what speaker you use, but how and where you install it and tune it, that makes it sound good. but of course with out hte tweeter, you arent hearing much at all. but if you put that jl tweeter in the stock location, i hope you like a lot of highs that cna get ear piercing at high volumes.

I have a vifa mid range that has a huge depth. I ended up creating a slanted mdf cut to help it clear the windows. It slants a bit that helps clear the window with ease. I used extra sound deadener as a gasket... lol

What I hate the most is the grill for the door has only a half of the holes that actually work. the upper half are just fake holes that don't let sound through. Hope that made sense.

+1 Worked perfectly for me with the Infinity Kappa Perfects and the Zenclosures 1" spacer.

Good man, you are learning a lot already. Trial and error greatly improves your skills. And great choice on the Dremel. I love mine dearly... just WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!

especially with cutting wheels, had one break when i was using it and missed my eye by a half inch.... would have been a bad day.... so now i wear safety glasses

Haha yea I've been wearing glasses. Little shards of cutting wheel keep flying into my arms, that stings a bit..

Would it be bad to use the dremel to cut my sail panels for the tweeters?
Cutting the 6mm wood with the straight cutting piece was terrible, which I can't risk with the sail panel since it is visible in the cabin. However, the sail panel is VERY thin..

There's a little dip on a small part of each tweeter - is that the direction? I take it I face these towards the seats?

next time you want to use a cutting wheel.. go to the store and buy the "heavy duty" ones. The little ones they give you with the dremel aren't worth a damn and will break constantly.

Dip on one side of the tweeters.

Like if this is the tweeter:

x is where the dip is. A round indent on the face of it.


So other than mounting my crossover in a place that does NOT work with the door panel, everything seems to fit (including the speaker).

One thing - the tweeter seems a bit too loud in comparison to the woofer... Is this why people don't like sail pillars for tweeters? Can I adjust my crossover settings to compensate a bit?

And my damn right tweeter won't work for some reason... multimeter is showing continuity too..
What would I do with my crossover to make the high's a little less piercing?

Check the instructions. A lot of crossovers will have a tweeter level switch you can adjust.

Just go slow on your install, think things through before you cut anything up. Try hooking the right side tweeter up to the left side to see if it works or not.

knowing htat speaker and the location, as i mentioned in the previous post, i hope you enjoy piercing highs. even with the xover tweet setting on low...its gonna sound like that with the stock location in the Z.

as for hte tweeter not working, so you are saying a multimeter does or does NOT show an impedance?

So, I'm also working on my Door speakers soon and have been reading a lot. can someone direct me to Kick panel pics with the speakers in them? Also, door pods are looking nice. Where can i buy these things? and suggestions?
