Alpine 9813 (2way or 3way) - What??
I'm upgrading my stereo in small stages. I have the non-bose system and the first thing I'm doing is putting in a new head unit.
I chose the Alpine 9813.
For now, I will be using the stock speakers (don't yell at me, I'll replace them in soon enough).
--> The big question is..... ON the side of the HU, there's a switch that toggles between 2 way mode and 3 way mode. Does anyone have ANY CLUE which one I should pick to use with my current 4 stock speakers??
From what I understand 2-way is all 4 speakers act as high range speakers and with 3-way, the fronts act as high range and the backs would act as mid range.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

2 Way, the 3 way position is to use the internal active crossover between the fronts, rears, and sub outputs. The default setting in the crossover is flat so it wouldn't effect the output, but would make it more difficult to setup once you add a sub.
Ditch the stock speaker as soon as you can. The rear speakers are 32 ohms, a bad impedance match for your HU. Also make sure you disconnect the stock tweeters when you replace the front speakers. I have a 9813 and those tweeters just hurt the ears.
Good luck with your install.

The rear speakers are definitely 32 ohms, it's stamped on the back of the speakers. Kind of a lame attempt by Clarion to bias the sound levels to the front pair. I doubt that it will damage the Alpine. But don't expect good sound from the back speakers.
