Default 10w7 setup

Considering buying a 10w7 and JL 500/1 v2 for the Z. Will this setup still sound good with the stock HU and speakers?

Does anyone have a similar setup and want to comment? Thanks in advance.

seems like a W7 would be a bit much for an otherwise stock setup. you wouldnt have much control of a hella sub

I have two JL W6's hooked up to the stock Bose unit and it did what I wanted, which was more bass. But its far from as good as it could sound with a set of component speakers. But its ok for now. If you just want more bass thats what it will do.

I've got a W7 with a 1000/1. You're probably going to want to do speakers as well because the sub will easily overpower anything coming out of the stocks. Of all the nitpicks I have with this car, the stereo I've built is absolutely not one of them. I needed something loud to cover up the squeaks and rattles.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Default sub control

You should be able to add a remote gain control to the jl 500/1. If you plan on adding to the syetem donw the road it's an exceleant starting point. I would recomend in dynamatting the deck lid, plate and other interior areas as you move forward.

I would suggest saving all that money your going to spend on just the amp and sub, and start off with a clean sounding HU... I would suggest you look into a lower-end model Alpine, which won't break the bank and you will get a good clean sound... Then go with a nice set of components or coaxs to have some clarity... Then think about how a sub will fit your needs... Will you use the stock Bose location? Will the sub you choose require a lot of airspace? Will it require a lot of power? What guage amp kit will you need? Capacitor?... You should build your system around your mids and highs.... Work your way from the front to back(not like that pervs!) because although it may not seem like it, but your front speakers are the most important part of your system... IMO, I think if you do something heavy duty like a W7 without upgrading fronts and HU, you will find that you will be unsatisfied with the voice....

I started with three 12" Kicker L5's in my trunk and i regreted not starting my system from the front...lol... GL
