Default crossover in the trunk??

hey all,
Im about to install my components and I was wondering if its ok to put crossovers in the trunk and run 4 wires (two 14awg and two 16awg) to the door.
Is there going to be any sound quality different if I get the crossover too far?
Also, I have been having a hard time getting off the harness in between the door and body.
Do I just pull it off? or is there another method to take it off?
Any help is appreciated,

not sure what harness you're talking about, but if it's the plug things I drilled holes in the empty slots ad ran my wires through there

as far as the cross-overs... the more wire the more power it will take to produce the same sound. I put mine inside the door about halfway between the speakers... There's plenty of room in there if you put it in the right spot.

Why would you mount them in the trunk? That doesnt make sense.. After you pull the door panel off I strongly suggest dynamatting your door its the difference between your components sounding like crap and sounding good. Most ppl mount the c.o to the door.

I mounted mine in the trunk on the underside of the Zenclosure amp rack. I did this was so that they were easily accessible if I wanted to change the tweeter attenuation. I can't think of any reason why there would be sound quality issues (other than if they were mounted too close to the amps) and the cable length is going to be the same no matter what. In fact, you could maybe say that since the treble and bass signals are being split closer to the amp, there's less chance of degradation of the treble signal due to interaction with the bass signal over the entire cable run.

Davy.

^ understood but then your running tw0 sets of wires on each side back up to the front and to the doors when you could run 1 split it at the c.o(door). Your amp is actually putting out a stronger uninterrupted signal than the c.o is. Imo if i had to run 8ft of wire id rather run it from my amp then a c.o thats just me. Mounting on door is just more efficient. also less wire.

you need to pull back the rubber cover, and then slide down the handle on the harness. sliding down the handle will separate the harness from the door jamb area and the part inside the car. moving that handle is a lot easier with the help of a flat head screwdriver.
