so i got a KICKER ZX Series ZX750.1 Amplifier
and i got the 350z under the strut car box.
that hold TWO 10" woofers.
im planning on getting the JL w3v3 subs.
i heard it depends on which amp you have that you decide if you want 2ohm or 4 ohm subs.
which ohm subs do i need?

Why is everyone on this site stuck on kicker and jl but anyway if I were you i would find a class d amp that is 1 0hm stable so you can get the max out of your amp then buy 4 ohm dvc and wire them to 1 ohm. Class d can make that power more effienctly. You kind of have to think ahead what ohm you want to run then that determines what amp and sub configuration to run

nice amp, good quality.
with that amp you need to run the subs at 2 ohms. that is the resistance of the voice coils in the sub.
you can achieve this in a few ways. get 2 single 4 ohm voice coil subs and wire them in parallel. or you can get 2 dual 2ohm voice coil subs, wire the subs in a series parallel combination.
what you need to make sure of is that the RMS wattage the subs can handle is close to the RMS wattage the amp will supply. RMS stands for Root Mean Squared and is the continous wattage that can be deliverd. dont go by the "max" ratings of subs and amps.
the jl 3v3-4 10" can handle 500 RMS watts. you amp can supply 750 RMS. so you would be fine running 2 of those subs on that amp. the subs could handle 250 more watts then the amp can supplt but that is fine.
you wouldnt want to put more rms watts to a sub then it can handle, this will shorten the life of the sub. so you wouldnt want to run the w0 or the w1.
just because an amp might say it is 1 ohm stable doesnt mean you should run it at 1 ohm. what you gain in power you trade in sound quality. plus it would be like running your engine at red line all the time. people are stuck on jl and kicker because they make quality equipment that is affordable and available. there are better brands but there are many that are worse.

^^^Huh? thats absolutely not true if an amp is 1 ohm stable doesnt mean your running it at a detrimental level its actually running more efficiently. You can run an amp all day long at 1 ohm and it not even get warm. That is in no way compared to running an engine at redline. How are you losing sound quality for running at 1 ohm if thats the case your running a very low quality amp. How do equate kicker with quality yes some of there stuff is ok but it is by no means what it used to be nothing they offer is for sq its al spl and jl and affordable do not go together. For the same price of there subs and amps you can get equipment that blows it out of the water. People are stuck on jl and kicker because its mainstream and they just dont know any better. What audio show have you ever been to where kicker or jl is being used ppl that know any better dont run it. Digital designs, Dc audio, FI,Rd logics, incriminator audio, audioque etc etc find me anything in kicker or jl's line that can come close to touching anything from 1 of these companies
To the original op i suggest going on caraudio.com and doing a little research to learn more about car audio or else its either gonna result in damaged equipment or not using it to its full capability.

So your options are buy 2 subs that are single voice coil 4 ohm subs or get 2 subs that are dual voice coil 2 ohm subs. It really doesn't matter if you get 2 ohm or 4 ohm subs you just have to wire them the correct way for whichever ones you buy. The instructions that come with the subs will tell u how to wire them or search on here I have seen wiring diagrams for a few different setups in the audio section

here are your 2 options. both will give you a 2 ohm load at the amp. the top one is with 2 single voice coil subs that are 4 ohm each coil. the bottom one is with 2 dual voice coil subs each coil is 2 ohms. hope this clears up any confusion.
