Default Help with center console removal!!

Hi everyone, I'm going crazy trying to do a simple task like installing a Garmin
navigation system in my wife's 06 350Z cubby hole.
I have the center console almost out, but can't get the three clips off the AC unit in order to get the console away from the car?
Any help? How the heck would you get them back in as well, the cable behind them seems very short!
I'm just trying to find a way to bring the Garmin connector up through the back and then into the cubby hole to avoid the cable lying all over the front stick area like was displayed in Matt's Williams Blog. There just doesn't seem to be any open area behind there!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

removing the console is simple enough. there are guides here and on youtube. I had to simply remove the white serial cable connector from the back of the a/c controller and that was enough.

this is my guide on how to do what you're trying to do:

You mean the small white plastic clips? Just push the middle part in with a small screw driver...same thing for the gauges on top when you pull the whole piece off

This is a 06 with an automatic, and you can not get the console away from the dash without breaking a tie that hold the large cable set that the white air box
cables come out of and attach.
Finally cut the tie, and it allowed enough length to pull out the connector on the rear.
I can't believe how tight it is behind these dashes to run this cable up from the
power outlet on the passenger side..
Now my problem is the suggested smaller Garmin mount doesn't stick!!
The cubby hole has a felt in it, do I use an adhesive?

Drill two holes and use bolts. You also might need the shorter mount (I did):
