Default ISimple bass problems?

I recently installed an ISimple Ipod unit to my stock Bose HU (stock speakers/sub as well). For some reason i expected some retarted crap to happen along the way, but to my surprise it worked, kind of. The highs sound perfect and crisp, bass is present but pretty soft. The highs overpower the bass a lot. I even turn up the bass to +5 and the treble to -6

When i use the regular radio, the bass sounds normal. If i use Pandora from my iphone, its even worse....I mean, i expect Pandora quality to not be as good as mp3s directly from an ipod, but its pretty damn bad.

Has anyone installed an ISimple and run into this problem before? Looks like it might be something i just have to live with. Hate our radios so damn much...I'd get an aftermarket HU but I'll lose the Nav voice (trust me that voice has helped me in the past since the directions on the screen can be confusing at times.)

I don't have any experience with iSimple, but which model did you get? The only thing I can think is a ground connection. How do you have the unit grounded? Have you checked resistance at the ground point?

I'm a much bigger fan of the Metra wired FM modulator. Great audio quality, easy install, and it's cheap. It works with EVERY head unit, too.

my isimple works like a charm and install was easy.

however, quality is slightly off versus an mp3 CD if you will, but nothing bad.

why dont you try adjusting the sound settings on whatever device youre using (iphone)?

i know that if bass booster is on, the sound will be distorted at times.

SOLUTION?! upgrade speakers and get a sub.

I never used the (ipod) part of the iphone, i only used the iphone for Pandora. But i have a separate IPOD (last years model), that i play MP3s on, and when i plug it in i lose volume controls on the ipod. I'll try messing with stuff, thanks

Stay away from that, it's absolute garbage. I went through two of them. If you want any customer support, you have to buy it from a factory authorized dealer, which means you get ripped off. The first one I bought dropped the volume on my stereo down by 50%. I called PAC and they basically said "tough #$%&, you bought it off of E-Bay so you're on your own." PAC Audio's customer support is just about the worst in the business.

So I ended up buying a second unit from a factory authorized dealership in Florida (cost me twice as much). PAC assured me it would work. "We added an in-line amp to the circuit board" they said. Bull. It was just as bad as the first. "You need to download the most current bios and flash the ROM" they said. I flashed the ROM, no change. After $250 and hours of wasted time on the phone with them, I gave up.

If you want mine, I'll sell it to you for cheap. I'm sick of looking at it.

Again, do yourself a favor. STAY AWAY FROM PAC AUDIO. There are way better solutions out there.

Well, it's kind of pointless for you to tell OP to stay away from that if he owns the product already.

The link i gave was to help him set it up, nothing more.

I'm curious as to how much you paid for yours?

I paid $130 for mine and it's been working fine. I have no regrets.

@ VividRacing: the thing comes with all the necessary harnesses, i just clipped up all the wires to the back of the radio and to the pac unit. There's only one way it all hooks up (male and female harnesses), so you can't screw it up really. I really hate having to constantly look for new stations with FM modulators, I live in an area where there's interference from different stations everywhere.

@ Duckeee: I paid about the same for mine. For most of the songs on my IPOD i have to keep the volume at the max (31), for it to sound pretty good. Songs that are ripped directly off my CDs sound pretty good but @ 25-31max volume. The voices are fine, its just the bass that is lacking. Regular radio sounds better.....and Pandora is just retardedly bad.
