Question How to keep the rear view mirror from rattling

I finally got everything installed (see sig), including my subs... I ended up with two subs for now, but a friend might buy one from me, I dunno yet. When the subs hit, my rear-view mirror rattles like crazy. I've matted the rest of the car and eliminated 99% of the rattles caused by the subs, but the rear-view mirror rattle makes the whole sysem sound like crap!!! Can anyone help with suggestions? I've thought about matting the headliner towards the front so that the vibrations get dampened a bit... anyone know how to remove the headliner? Thanks!

I know of one guy in Memphis with a Z... name on here is ccondo... he's got a nice sound system too, but doesn't post here much any more... I am out of town until the 26th, but any time after that I'd love to meet up and get some photos and give you a listen of the system.

I'm in Nashville, I'd drive down for a meet. I too, have the rearview rattle. If you push up on the mirror, it will stop....for a few seconds of bliss. i am planning to take it to Nissan and see what they say.

I think there is a TSB for mirror rattle. I know that the vanity mirrors had a fix, where they replace a piece of plastic with a thicker one to stop the rattle. Might be the same for the rearview mirror.

We just had our mirror replaced by the dealer with no questions asked. It was rattling while just cruising down the road... very annoying.

My mirror also rattled (like a constant buzzing) that would come and go. Yes, grasping it/ squeezing it would stop it momentarily..

Of course dealer would not admit there was a problem. Everything is "normal" with them until a service bulletin comes out...

I applied some Silicone lube to the seem where the back of the unit meets the front of the unit... I used a spray can, twisted the mirror so the long dimention was vertical and let a bead of the lube run down the seam, then did the other side... Maybe there is a better container than the spray can... just be careful and don't over spray... I didn't have to use very much...

The rattle has been gone for a week now.. Not sure how this will withstand loud/heavy music, but it sure worked for the vibration caused by driving on normal roads...

i complained at the dealer and they said it was because it was a heavy mirror that it rattled so much. they tightened it, but thats all. it worked for the drive home, but came right back. its 100x worse with a stereo.

Yeah I just finished my system and when the sub hits, the mirror rattles. Not only that but looking into the mirror when the sub hits is dizzying. All you see is a blurr because of the shaking of the mirror. I've had to turn off the MX featureon my Alpine 9833. With MX off, the bass isn't as pronounced and the mirror does not rattle.

Cehome,

Do you notice your alpine unit rattles when it is tilted (faceplate).

I have the same unit and it rattles a lot when its tilted.

When it seats in the normal position, no noise or little noise. The noise comes from a combination of kit/hu.

I used the American International kit. I have taken apart and zip ties all my wires and screw everything tightly. In the first installation, I left out the spacers for the sides, but I added in when I took it out the second time.
