About to buy...Pioneer or Kenwood
I would suggest maybe driving around town to stereo stores and playing with both units . Buy the one that has the most features your looking for and is user freindly . Will you be using the decks power or running external amplifiers?
see what i do for ppl after i am done talking my isht?
Here is a member on the board selling an Alpine w505 double din for 375 shipped.. youre NUTS to not buy it op. Lots of thread traffic, better hurry.

I would love to hear the history , or better yet why you would tell someone Alpine or go home . From 1992 through 1999 I competed in Both Iasca and Usac SQ competitions , using all Alpine components . I've competed with the legendary 7909 , 7939 and 7949 , Decks , Many processors including the ERA-G320 ,many amps including the legendary 3545 monster . I was at the time being sponsered by an Alpine dealer and absolutely loved the product . The store was then sold and new owners came in and didn't want to supply us with clothing and travel funds for far away shows . We were then helped out by a Pioneer dealer wanting to advertise his store nationally . So the switch was on to pioneer , and let me tell you . Deep down i still loved Alpine , but it did not hold a candle to the Pioneer ODR stuff, heck even the newer Pioneer Premier 880prs(for example) decks were just as good as any Alpines I had used . I would also say that at least 50% of all Iasca and Usac world champions were using Pioneer ODR in that time frame . Heck I still have a Pioneer Dex-P9 deck and matching processor sitting in my collection (Imo the best combo ever) . To say that Pioneer is not in the conversation with Alpine is absurd .

One thing to consider, the pioneer units had internal sensors that would prevent DVD or nav use while moving. With the kenwoods all you have to do is ground out the e-brake wire.
Thanks for the inputs ill be installing tommorrow any diy around???

Good read, I was just in this situation about two weeks ago. I went Pioneer after many suggested it over Alpine.
I don't think I would suggest one over the other , as both manufactures put out a good product. Unless something changes , they are the only two that I would consider using when it comes to headunits. I will admit , Alpine was very hard to beat in the 80's through the mid 90's . If you had Alpine then , you were above everyone else .
Not sure which mounting kit was used in that pic, the fitment is perfect. The kit that I used(or that my installer used) left a gap of space right where the unit met the dash. I have a feeling that he used the wrong kit, any suggestions
Buy the correct kit and get a new installer .
