Nissan Radio Code?

Nissan Radio Code?
I just bought my car last week and was told by a friend that also has a 350z that I should undo the battery negative then turn the lights on (to drain any extra power) for about an hour then turn the lights off and hook the battery back up so the computer will be reset and be in "Learning mode" based on a MPG issue (only getting about 17.5 mpg on 93 octane).
And I'm sure your all wondering why is this in the audio area - simple question is if I unplug my battery for this long will the radio freak out like my honda and mazda used to and require a code be punched in to unlock it? Or any anti theft things to worry about?
Radio Installed:
Stock POS BOSE radio with cassette [soon to be swapped just don't have the funds yet]

As far as I know (about my Z) disconnectiong the battery does not require any radio code. I have had my battery disconnected for weeks while working on it. I know what you are talking about. My son's Acura TSX requires a code both for the Navi and Radio. It is a pain. I had a Mitsubishi that was same too. As far as MPG stuff, others would come in and help

this was just a little test to see if the MPG would increase and would the pc learn my driving habits - but I also know how my luck runs what sounds simple will turn into a tow and $$$ at the dealer if I don't ask ahead of time!
I searched the forum and found nothing about it so I figured id ask
