Default Adding cruise control to Base

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I've been wondering if anyone had put any thought into installing the stock cruise control system on a Base model Z.

The guage panel has all the slots for it, and I'm assuming that either the bulbs to light it are there, or at least there are sockets for them. Since the care is drive-by-wire, I'm assuming that the cruise system simply has the computer set the throtle at the appropriate position (versus the manual system of holding the throtle cable in place). The only thing I can think of that would be an issue might be the computer...I'm wondering if the computer in the base model is any different from the one in the enthusiast model.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

Default Cruise Contol for Base

I considered this when I owned a base and believe it to be impossible with the base computer. There are definitely different ECUs for each model and the cruise control interfaces directly with the ECU.

I subsequently totaled my base and bought an enthusiast. If you decide to pursue this mod, I have the steering wheel controls and would be willing to sell them.

you still willing to sell your parts for cruise? I'm going to be buying a base in a bit.

Do a search and you will see that this has been discussed numerous times.

Because the Z is fly-by-wire you can't just hook up a mechanical cruise control. Since your model's ECU doesn't support it, you basically can't have cruise.
