Looking for some opinions here....what is a better sub for a person who listens to a variety of music (rock, rap, dance, techno, etc.)? I currently have this kicker sub and think it is ok, but I am willing to upgrade if there is something better out there. Suggestions? What JL models are comparable?

Ok... let's kick this thread up a notch. This guy at work claims that this kicker sub is one of the the best subs for the price ($130). He goes on to say that JL is over-commercialized junk. He said they are popular because that is what all the kids use, not knowing any better, but a true audio enthusiast would choose more upgraded equipment like Kicker, Infinity or Alpine. Rebuttals?

Gotta say my kikcer 10 Comp VR is more than enough for me..Also have the 400 wat kicker sub amp... I built the box myself..and i don't need anymore bass.. I think it all has to do with the box... and the ability for your amp to produce good tunes below 80Hz..
I have an old "Pyle" in a tube in my 240... this thing has been used and abused.. the cone if dissed and it has a rip in the form.. Still produces decent bass with low wattage..... Dont ask me how...
plus the material of the Kicker is damn good... @ 125 cant beat it...

With the W7 .. you can go wrong ... by spending too much money. If you want a nice sub that will keep up on all kinds of music (read: you won't be winning any max SPL competitions), look at the Image Dynamics ID-D2 10...just reviewed in this month's Mobile Entertainment Magazine ... go to the newsstands and grab the book. It is lsted at $130, and fits in VERY small sealed enclosure, doesnt require a lot of power, and TN gave it a very good review
