Xenarc mounted in '04 Nav comp?
Hi all,
I just received a custom dash kit from elegantwooddesign.com. They sent me a kit with the '04 nav compartment/lid. This configuration differs from the '03 compartment in that the compartment 'box' cant be removed from the assembly, and there appears to be less clearance between the lid and the edges of the box than in the '03 version.
Has anyone mounted a 7" Xenarc in an '04 nav compartment and, if so, do you have any pics or a How To? I'm tempted to break out the dremel tool and whack away at it, but before I do that I'd like to see if anyone else has figured out a way around having to resort to that.
Thanks,
Scott

Yes, I have mounted a 7" touchscreen Xenarc in the non-nav compartment on my 2004 Roadster. You are correct in that the non-nav compartment is different between the 2003 and the 2004. What I ended up doing was buying a non-nav compartment for a 2003 and mounting the Xenarc on that. It works excellent. The only issue is that 2003 non-nav compartment lid is a bit lighter in color. But it is going to be open most of the time. Now I need to go order the bracket assembly for the CD Changer in the compartment behind the passenger. That is where I am going to install my car pc. Sorry but I did not take any pictures during the install. I too thought about the dremel but I don't see how with the way the compartment is designed. Along both sides is that metal bracket. If that bracket was not there it would be easier. I think that bracket is needed. I did not take it apart though.
Here are some pictures after the install. But I don't think they will help you.

Ugh! I wish I could do that, too. The problem is that the custom dash has been done on DB Carbon Fiber, so the lids do not match and swapping them is not going to be an easy/attractive solution. Looks like the dremel will have to be employed.
But thanks for the heads-up.

I have a 04 non nav, and I have ordered a Lilliput screen. It will come in the next week or two. I'm not going to order the 2003 door, so I'm going to try my best to make it fit in what I already have. I think I have a way figured out which will involve no cutting. I know the height and width will work, but I'm not too sure about the thickness of the screen. I will keep you posted when my Lilliput comes in.
