Default FM Modulator? Heat Problems?

Anybody out there thats using an FM Modulator to connect in an external audio source into the stock system... are you having any issues? In my last vehicle I had an fm modulator but it would get hot and not work very well. It may have been a bad fm modulator unit but never the less.

What brand FM Modulator are you using?
How long have you been using it?
Any other performance comments?

I'm goin to be building a custom PC with Touch Screen and custom interface to do navigation and audio and whatever else I think of. But getting audio into the current system is my first task. Maybe later I'll upgrade the sound system... but for now I'm probably going to go with an FM Modulator.

I use the Delphi unit on my XM and it works great. I have not had any issues with it overheating. I have taken several long road trips.

Sounds good. I'll probably be getting one installed soon then. Thanks!

One quick question....

whats the 6V connection on the unit for? Is it for the XM tuners? I won't be needing this probably.

Anyone use the JVC one at all?

Cool... Thanks everyone for the comments. I chose the JVC FM Modulator. My brother and I installed it underneath the stereo in the front dash (probably the same place as you fresno350) as well as adding a custom switch to turn it off and on. We placed the switch on the top part of the power outlet underneath the passenger dash section. You can't see it if your not looking and when turned on has just a slight glow so you can tell its on. Also ran wiring and such to the glove box to prepare for my Z PC project. Just need to start ordering the parts now.
