Location of phone control module?
Anybody know the location of the phone control module if you have the nissan telephone option in your car?
Want to install SonyEricsson bluetooth handfree, found the cable between the seats but do not know where the other end is...
BTW, anybody have the 04 service manual?

Yepp, got an European model (swedish actually). When you have the nissan telephone option there are two things. One is the docking station where you put your phone and the other is the telephone control module that routes audio to the speakers, handles keypressed from the steering wheel, etc.
Was hoping that somebody knew where this module is located in the car if the option is installed.

Try tracing the wire harness for the Headunit towards the driving wheel. Thats where it'll most likely be.

This is the option from the accessories catalogue.
A good guess is of course that it mount behind the radio was hoping to avoid the exploratory surgery...

OK - the pre-wiring is done in the factory in Japan...
If you open the Briefcase box, behind your passenger seat, you'll find it has a false bottom. Underneath the lay in base is the control box for the phone wiring, I believe...
Obviously you will need one of the Nissan encoded THBury cradles & you already have the controls on your steering wheel & the microphone & aerial pre-installed above the rear view mirror.
Hope that helps

Thanks man.
Under the false bottom there was an compartment for the manual. Lifteing it up revealed what indeed appears to be the correct connectors. Thanks. Further invistigation can proceed...

I hope this bring this option to the US! does the cradle have to be for a certain phone, or can you use any phone manufacturer that has a "handsfree" kit availible? Just curious, because I may try to get the wiring and steering wheel if it is possible!

There are a number of cradles available to suit different phone handsets...
I use a Siemens S55 & the cradle works really well.
There are other cradles for Nokia & SonyEricsson too, with more to be released in the future

Say Veilside Z I'm also an european Z driver and I'm looking forward for an audio upgrade.
Do you know if it will still work with a new HU / Speakers etc. ?
I would like to install the New Pineer X1 unit.
Thanks in advance

Nothing seems to integrate with the stock controls
There are quite a few of the guys on http://www.350zuk.com that are looking to change the Head Unit & Speakers but they are all having the same problem...
maybe you want to join in the debate - check it out

Thanks for the good link to the brit 350z forum. Helps a lot because there are small but important differenzes between the us and european models.
I'm afraid I have to buy a new hand-free system from siemens for my mobile phone and install it together when I get my AVIC X1.
that's not good because I'm already used to the control on the wheel and the nissan system.
Besides has anyone installed a camera in the back? Like in the Almera.....

Not in the UK - I have the reversing sensors though...
but I know that some of the guys on this forum have managed to link a camera to a screen in the cubbyhole.
