Hello all! I just installed a Alpine 9831 in my Z. I don't have Nav or any of that. Everything works fine except for when I try and tune in a radio station. I get absolutely nothing but static. The antenna cable is hooked and secured. I swithced from Area1 to Area2 and vice versa on the radio, but still nothing. Is it something I'm missing?

 

Yeah, there is an antenna pre-amp apparently. meaning there is a wire that needs to be hooked up to an amp that boosts the antenna signal. I have a CDA-9815 and have the same problem. I haven't fixed it yet though, because I'm too lazy to tear the dash apart again and I usually listen to MP3 CDs anyways.

 

I'm almost positive all you have to do is hook up the power antenna wire from your harness to the radio....
