Default Help a n00b to get wiring for an install.

Just like the topic says.. i need to buy wiring for my install...

I got the following parts that will be installed (not by me):

° Kenwood KDC-X969 headunit (i got the metra kit and wiring harness) [i want the unit to power the rear stock speakers]

° Infinity Kappa 63.5i (a pair for the front)

° Basslink (comes with pretty much everything... i think)

° Planet Audio TT2150 2 chan amp (amp will power the front speakers.. )

It'd be best if you could suggest things that i could get at wallmart of good guys.. and nothing fancy.. the sooner i get this stuff the sooner i'll have a guy install all this stuff.

thanks a bunch

i don't think walmart will carry premium sound cable, though you might check. this would be in the automotive section, where they carry hu's.

me, i would just find a nice quality store or online site, lay down a bunch for like 4 gauge cable, and be done with it, but thats just me

Don't know if you have a bestbuy or circuit city in your area but they have amp install kits. For no more than you are doing, a good 8 guage power/ground wire kit should do you and it will have everything you need. hope this helps

I have an 04 touring and I rewired the entire car when I installed my speakers. I have since added an amp, so I had to remove a lot of wire. I ran 4 sets of wires from my HU. 2 went thru my console to the rear speakers and 2 went down the rt side of my car to my storage compartment(to my crossovers) behind the passenger seat and the 2 sets went back forward to each door(to my components). Now, I have my wires running from my factory sub location(where my amp is) to the rear speakers and to the storage compartment.

Are you planning on using the OEM tweeters? I would run 2 wires from your HU to the rears(8 ft ea to be safe). Then, if not using the OEM tweeters, I would run a new set of wires from the amp to each door(somewhere around 10 ft ea side to be safe). In order to run new wires into the door, you must drill out the factory wiring harness plug going into the doors. I just paid someone to do this for me. All of my wiring is 12 ga double insulated twisted pair Stinger wiring. I bought a 100 ft roll for some reason and I still have probably 70 ft left. I can sell you some of mine if you are interested. PM me and let me know.
