Possible to replace stock non-bose HU with Bose HU?
Does anybody know if it is possible, or have an opinion if it's technically possible to replace the stock HU (non-Bose from a Perf. model) with the Bose HU from a Touring model.
I looked at the service manual and the connectors appear to be the same but the Bose has a couple that the non-Bose doesn't have. For example, a control signal for the Bose amp and an input from the Audio Pilot.
I'm also concerned about the speaker outputs. On the non-Bose they go directly to the speakers but on the Bose, those lines go to the Bose Speaker amp. I'm wondering if the Bose HU has enough power by itself to drive the speakers without the amp in line.
Has anybody else tried or done this before?
Thanks
Dave

The Bose head unit does not have internal power to drive speakers directly. It uses a differential output, not line level and not speaker level. To use it in your non Bose vehicle, you will need aftermarket amplifiers, and a special converter, which costs about $100.
You would be better off buying a good aftermarket head unit instaed of trying to use the Bose unit.
