Default Newbie question: S2000 antenna

sorry for the stupid question, but I did use the quick search and couldn't find the answer...Purchased an S2000 antenna from Honda and unlike my stock or others I've seen, the S2k one screws into the car as apposed to onto it. In other words, it's male on both ends. Is there something I need to remove on the antenna base on the car? Or is there something that comes off the antenna?

If i recall correctly, the car side should be female.. maybe the screw broke off or something on the stock antenna while you were taking it off?

try to spin out the screw by hand or with a pair of needle nose pliers.. or maybe you have a gay car

Did you remove the entire antenna incl the angled mount on the car... or just unscrew the upper portion off and replace it w/ the upper portion of the s2000 antenna?

you only need to remove the antenna itself, and screw the new one on. i have the s2k one on mine, and to me, it looks much better. cost like 20 bucks at a local honda dealer.

ditto. Just unscrew the "whip" portion of the antenna. Yup...20 bucks and some change from the Honda dealer.

The antenna seperates right where the blue area points to. Below the point is what stays on your car- Hope this helps you-

How is the reception with the S2000 antenna? Both of the courtesy antennas make the reception go down significantly.

I personally didn't notice much difference btwn stock and S2K. Maybe slightly less reception than stock but not enough for me to think twice about... although I listen to CDs more than the radio-

mofoz,

I paid $26.00 for mine at the local Honda parts center. They will ask what year S2000 you are looking for, and the 2003 mounts up to the Z. I think there was some sort of change to them on the 2004's. I read on one of the forums that they don't quite mount up the same.
