Also there is an orange wire that is supposed to go to the instrument cluster illumination lead (where is the plug for that?) and 3 other wires that go to vehicle phoen (dont have) and power antenna (dont think i have) and amp which i dont have. what about the orange one for illumination though?

grr this is extremely frustrating... the orange, blue, pink, and blue/white wires each have a weird end on them that looks like it should plug into something and the black wire has a 'hook' on it like i should ground it but i thought all the wires were supposed to splice into the wire harness?? man this sucks can anyone help? thanks

I assume it's a nissan to alpine wire harness that you bought? all you do it grab yourself some butt-end connectors and a crimp tool and then matchup the wires according to the diagrams that should have come with the radio and the harness..crimp them together with the connectors..
illumination lead = There should be a corresponding "Ill" lead.. but this may not be necessary..
vehicle phoen = optional (I left it unconnected)
power antenna = required.. connect it to the amp power on lead
black wire with hook = ground it to one of the bolts on your shifter
leave ground wire on harness unconnected..
by "unconnected" I mean don't connect it, but put a butt-end connector on it so it won't accidentally touch somethign and create a problem..
