Default Installing Amp to Stock Non-Bose Headunit?

I am looking to output a signal from my stock non-bose HU to an amp that will be mounted under my driver's seat.

HU ---> ????--> amp ---> sub in custom box in stock sub location

I know how to hook everything up except how to get RCA's from the HU to the AMP.

Is it HU ----> Line Output Converter --> Amp ---> Sub??

Does anyone have a writeup on how to install the LOC? Do I tap the rear speaker wire at the HU? How do I split the wire so I still have power going to my rear speakers and have a signal going ot my LOC?

Thanks!

I am in the process of doing the same install. How do you know which is the positive and negative of the rear/front speaker wires. I looked and saw which colors are which but those colors aren't even connected to the rear of the headunit...

Thats the right order! I suggest to hook the LOC to the rear 6.5" speaker wires versus the head unit wires. There will be four connectors and just splice the 2 wires for each speaker and hook it up appropriately to the LOC adaptor.

If u didn't buy an LOC yet try this one it looks good.

The Driver's side (left) rear speaker has a Light Green wire and Black/Yellow wire...

Light Green is positive-
Black/Yellow is negative-

The Passenger's side (right) rear speaker has a Green/White wire and a Solid Green wire...

Green/White is positive-
Solid Green is negative-

Guys,

If anybody here needs a converter. I have one brand new I just bought from david website. I am selling for 35 bucks shipped. I think i might go with an after market HU.

I also have some extra converters. I tried the above and could never really get a clean sound without a new HU.

That's why I love JL Audio, no need for converters, even with a stock head unit!!!

The JL has line in inputs on the amp? Cool.

I will try JL audio next.

Would it be worth it to put a JL W3 10" in place of my Sony Xplod 10"? I am running a RF amp 201s.
