Mike Peronek's(sp?) Radar Mount / Stealth Possible?
I saw the pictures of Mike's radar mount, it looks really neat.. and hard wiring into the rear view mirror is not hard at all so i'm sure I could do this... but I live in VA and radar detectors are all illegal here.. Funny, because it seems VA is the only place where these things work very well.. particularly on interstate 66 around here. Saved me tickets a few times and left me laughing in glee as i zoom by unsuspecting cops parked with their radars on
I love the mount that Mike has, it's clean, it's functional.. and i never have to worry about the detector smashing into my dash or radio or whatever if i happen to go over a big bump at high speed (Suction cup loses the... suck?)
I was trying to think of a way for myself to have the detector there with the mount and have a way to conceal it.. I'm not worried about cops directly next to me or across the street or nothing it's just those stops at the lights and checking my mirrors left and right to see if cops are gonna stop there around me.. I won't tint my windows either.. I have a weird feeling when I tint them that i'm all locked out away from the world in my little speedy den that is the Z. haha..
--
Idea: Mount it, have something hanging from the mirror like... fuzzy dice to cover it up somehow.. Any input would be appreciated.

BTW: Escort passport radar detectors are bulletproof.. Been in 3 different cars i've owned (same suction cups), dropped numerous times from the windshield because of going over huge bumps on the wind shield and having it smash itself against the dash the steering wheel the shifter and still works perfectly. The scary thing about this detector is a friend and I even hooked it up to my car battery directly (don't ask.. lolz) and fried it or so we thought.. burning circuit smell all over but i just popped it in the next day it was working fine!

If I still lived in VA, I would use the stealth mounting method of putting the detector near the rear window and a remote display on the dash or in the NAV area.
Having it under the mirror is still way too visible.
