Default Dynamat

How many of you with installs ran dynamat?

I dont know if I want to or not. I dont want to cut out the engine sound, and it sounds fairly solid stock. Plus I dont want to add even MORE weight besides the 35 pound sub and two amps...

I've added a ton of dynamat (well over two boxes of xtreme) to my car and I really haven't lost a lot of engine sound. I have lost a ton of rattles, road noise, and vibrations which are all good - but when I open the Z's throttle up I still get to hear the beautiful exhaust of the Z.

I say dynamat away!

I also say go for it.

I fattmatted the hell out of me rear (3 coats) and didn't loose much exhaust noise. I did loose all of that damn "rocks hitting the bottm of the car" and "rough road" noise..... whooo!!!!!

I used it on my doors and behind my kicks. I truely believe that it improves the sound and is completely worth doing. When I do my sub install I'll be adding it in the back.

i'd say go with it. nothing is more annoying than rattle when you're trying to listen to some heavy bass

I went a bit crazy with the dynamat. I haven't even gotten to the hatch area yet which is where most of the bad noises come from. This project has been a lot more time consuming and difficult than I expected.

LOL - My install has been continuous since I started almost 2 years ago... Between changing the HU, speakers, whole new trunk layout - 3 times - dynamat, more dynamat, and more dynamat - it's amazing I've ever driven my Z... I'm redoing my amp rack again and then next year I'm going to redo everything in the trunk. I figure the day I'm done working on the stereo in my Z will be the day I die...

My installer used a heavy amount of Dynamat. Well worth it. You can see photos on my site.

I did the doors inside and out and the whole trunk area including the hatch. Major difference. I love Dynamat Extreme!

I used about 50 sq ft of Dynamat Extreme and two cans of spray soundproofing for the inside fenderwells. Made all the difference in rattles and road /tire noise, and the stereo sounds much better.

Go with Dynamat... http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/546

That's the cheapest I've ever seen it.

Best I feel is Dynamat Extreme but for the cost FatMat wins hands down.

ikesound I believe has Dnyamat Extreme Bulk pack (36sqft) for $130. You can get 100sqft of FatMat on Ebay for $99. Dynamat Extreme is not 2 times better the FatMat I can tell you that to justify the cost increase.

i bought some liquid sound deadener called Spectrum 2 from www.secondskinaudio.com ill be applying it to the whole hatch area and the doors and possibly under the carpets.... ill post my results.

The reason i went with liquid is i heard (by many people) that it works just as well as the mats. But it weighs muhc less. about 9lb a galon and u need about 2galons to do the whole car..

Thanks...

I think I'll try the fatmat from ebay!

I think liquid is great for the wheel wells (if you take the plastic pieces out first, then tape, then spray) but inside the car it is gonna stink (literally not figuratively) and take a long time to dry without transferring itself to anything that touches it. Also, it lacks the metallic barrier that the solid mats have. Might be just as good for damping sound, but worse for vibrations. Dynamat Extreme was easy to apply and even take off later when I had to get behind a panel to run some more speaker wire.

according to the website i bought it from and people at caraudioforum.com the stuff i bought doesnt have a smell and takes 24hours to completely cure. (4 hours to cure dry to the touch)

and u can paint it on or spray. either or. it might not be quite as good for vibrations but its better for road noise than mats from what i hear.

your probably thinking of the stuff in the spray cans. which is totally different stuff.... Ive used the stuff in the spray cans in little areas and i could imagine it smelling very badly if i used it all over...

also 1 gallon = 9lb = 40-50SQF

I have two 10 inch subs in my trunk, and i hear rattling on some songs around the dash area - especially in front of the shot gun seat where a normal glove box is. Anyone else have the same problem?

How do I dynomat the dash? About how much is a good deal installed? I don't need it to be sound proof, but I want to get rid of the rattle.
