Just be careful on the ebay purchase of something like the 7015. If it dies on you, the ebay seller might not be too keen on getting you a replacement. And with how many people I have heard having issues (me included) with this thing it might not be worth it. But for $300 it might be worth the risk, maybe.....

Im not to sure im to keen on sticking a magnet on top of my car.
Something about that doesnt seem to be a good idea.
Wouldnt that scratch the paint or cause some damage if it was left in that spot over time?

You have two options really...

One: Place the antenna on the strut bar in the rear of the car.

Two: Place a piece of clear vinyl about 6" long wherever you are going to mount the antenna, this will prevent it from scratching.

There are varied reasons... the one that seems to hold some water is that ORANGE Illumination wire (possible issue). Some have reported that it could cause it to "fry" the deck. But no hard evidence has been provided.

And keep in mind, most dealers will only honor the warranty if they install it. That could bump up the price a bit.
