Default spacers are on the car!!! looking good!

Hello aussies,

Just want to share the experiences with you guys.... I have those 15mm spacers on my car already... they look great! So now the rear wheels look a lot push out than original setup and they are legal too!

Here are a few pictures that I took for you guys...

btw... this is not an advertisement, but the shop that I got the spacers from, they still have 1 set of 15mm spacers for the rear, if no one wants them, he will send those spacers back to Q'sland soon.... so if you want them, here is the contact detail:

Geoff Nicholls or Michael at (03) 9818 4555

enjoy the pics!

cheers,

richie

I never noticed at how far in the rear tyres were!

How much did they set you back? Have you got access to a g-tech pro to see if you affected the airodynamics of the car?

It would seem that if it is closer to flush that it may improve stability at high speed... but then again the Z was engineered to go fast.

Faster than any of us Aussies are propared to go on the open road, even in limit free NT... well thats just me :P

Z350Lover,

Looks really good with the spacers.

Like Zuffy, I would be interested to know if it has affected the handling or stability?

Looks waaaaay better Rich, good stuff, just gotta be careful tho parallel parking with the rear wheels sticking out further than the fronts, dont wanna scratch em.

Zuffy dude.....ROFL aerodynamics, maybe a factor if ur doing 300km/h on the Hume .......m a y b e

Im interested in Zdsters reply tho, is the tyre contact patch on the road the same as before???

Hello guys... here are the answers for all your questions:

1. The cost... the spacers (a pair) costed me 350 dollars.... Three Fifty.... hehehe... and I reckon it is a REALLY REALLY easy DIY, so you can just pick them up and do it at home! But.... I think the manufaturer put the slighly wider threads studs in (but still a very common type), that's not really a big deal because at the rear, just use different lug nuts to bolt the wheels on, which will not cost too much at all just to buy 2 more sets... I don't mind that myself but some of you guys might mind... it gives me another opportunity to buy another set of wheel lock to secure my Rays wheels.... ^^ ..... or if you want, you can even use the original log nuts to secure the spacers... that will be a good idea too, there are plenty of spaces behind the wheels!

2. About the tyre contact area/patch.... they aren't changed as I notice... because these spacers actually just alter the Offset of the wheels... does not alter the camber angel and the car isn't lowered, so I don't think that will affect anything....

3. About the aero dynamic... well... I seriously don't know and will not know at all if I don't travel at 200 over km/hr...

4. As for the stability, I know it will get improve a lot because you have about 30mm wider than the original track, it will surely improve the turning ability of the car.... I didn't change the front is because the turing characteristics might get affected by putting those spacers on.... as far as I know, it drives perfectly as before!!! No rattling noise, no nothing!!! just with better look!

5. If you want a set NOW.... ring the number, else they will be shipped up in these few days back to Q'sland.... or you will need to wait 2 weeks for again before you have it in front of ya!

cheers,

richie

ray_7:

It really depends on your wheel though... if your wheels have those empty spaces at the back of the wheels, you can be able to fit this 15mm spacers, else you will need to go up to 25mm to allow the extra bits to sit flat in the spacers which I think it is way too much for our cars.... your wheels will be out of the guard I guess (by looking at 10mm more on my current setup, you might get stopped by police because wheels will be sitting on the guard or even over the guard)....

richie

Guess what? I went to my local performace store and the guy have 4 spacers sitting there. They were 25mm wide.

I asked him to try and put them on. They actually fit, and the wheels are now just inside the guard (or barely straight with the guard).

I'll post pictures soon.

really???????? cool man.... show us the pics!!!!

I think it might be your offset that allows you to have larger spacers I think (correct me if I am wrong).... what is your offset at the rear anyway?? Thanks!!

cheers,

richie
ps. else I might be going larger.. and put those 15mm at the front.... but afraid that I might change the turning characteristics though....

Yeah, must've been my offset. its really crappy at first i think.

now with the 25mm spacers, the wheels looks perfect.

i'll post pics in a new thread.
