Default where do you service your car?

Hi all,

Just curious where everyone services their Z. I'm keen to find a dealership that actualy knows something about the car and wants to fix problems as they come up.

I've used Golbourn Nissan and they rock but they are too far away from me. I'm taking the Z to see the Randwick dealer next week.

Meeting the Nissan rep to deal with pain issues, grease on window and body kit not installed correctly.. (just the std body)

I'm going to add to that the problem with the shocks (insufficient dampening) and feathering of my tyres which just started...

BTW has anyone else read that 22 page thread on feathering of the 350z? Pretty interesting stuff! I guess i had incentive to read it :P

I don't use Nissan dealers for servicing so can't help you there.

Just out of interest how many km do you have on your Z? I'm almost at 3000km and don't have any signs of it yet (or at least up to last weekend).

Hi there,

Can you let me know the outcome of the discussion of the grease streaks.

My dealer which I will not recommend tried to fix it after I had to jump up and down and he told me that its not a known problem so he did not want to spend time on it as Nissan wont pay him?!?!? WTF?

I then got two dents in the door from the inside out!

So as I said, you dont want my dealer !

Mike

The grease streaks are a well known problem.

It's just that in Oz most dealers don't want to bother with after market care.
It was always my concern that Nissan Oz couldn't handle servicing a car like the Z... anyway i'll keep you posted.

BTW apsilon i have 4500kms and it is very very mild. Also mate where do you serice your car then? Do you just do it yourself?

I am thinking of taking it to Croyden Racing Development... Jim told me they do service performance cars not just mods.

BTW the cure for the feathering seems to be in a 4 wheel alignment on new tyres. The alignment needs to be out of Nissan specs though ! wtf?

If you have patience read that thread page 16-20... i read the whole thing....ooooohhhhh boy

The Nissan Oz dealers I spoke to could barely handle selling the car so I can only imagine what servicing through them must be like.

Usually I would do servicing myself but I want to maintain warranty for the time being which means an MTA authorised shop. I have a friend who owns a workshop so he handles it for me.

Croydon would be OK I think although I can't quite get past the past knowing what went on at CAS. They'd charge a premium as well I believe. Very nice workshop and adjoined retail place. The dyno day is on there on the 6th July.

I'll have a look at the alignment thing. Not unusal to do an alignment outside factory specs to improve handling but I agree you shouldn't have to do it to fix something.

We service all Import cars at our Workshop in Rushcutters Bay
We specilise in Soarers, Supras & FTO,s but now that we are racing the 350z we probably know more about this car than anyone in Australia.
The workshop is attatched to the Shell Service Station in Rushcutters Bay. Its a bit tattey & has none of the creature comforts of the modern dealerships.
Drop by & check us out. or Ph 02 9328 6588 & ask for Peter (my dad). He has engineered the race car & did my previous Mitsubishi FTO that won the Australian class B GTP championship.
