Default Insurance

Just wondering what you guys pay for insurance on the 350Z? Anyone care to share?

I have a modified Golf GTi (ECU, Suspension, Exhaust) and paid $1400 through Just Cars but they wanted to charge me $1950 for a 350Z with a $2900 excess if the car was stolen

The cheapest insurance i've found is RACV, Rating 1, $450 excess and the preimum is $1800 with no previous infringements. Did i get duped? I thought it was a good deal...

it's a good deal... I got hit with 2700 and 400 excess.

I might spend some time looking elsewhere. I'm with GIO BTW.

Try AAMI, they were cheaper than RACV.

I paided $ 1050.00 rating 1, over 30yr old's only can drive the car.

It's a decent deal. Melbourne will always be cheaper than Sydney though so maybe it's not such a good deal down there?

FWIW I was quoted ~$1800 from AAMI in Sydney (over 30, 60%NCB, excellent history etc) but went with ~$2400 from GIO as I don't like some of AAMI policy.

AAMI wouldn't insure me because the car will be parked on-street not off-street, like apsilon i don't like some of their policy either.

CGU wouldn't insure me cos the 350Z was too much of a performance vehicle.

Allianz wouldn't insure me cos i'm not over 30.

I even called a Insurance broker and they couldn't find anything for me, strange cos i have a perfect history no claims or infringements. The insurance broker said cos i was 26 and the car wasn't garaged.

In anycase, sounds like $1800 through RACV was a decent deal :-)

I got a similar quote with RACV but they will only insure cars with max of 8.5" rims, and I've got 9.5" on the rear.

While we are on the insurance topic i wanted to bring up the old topic of the "tracker".

I can't understand why adding a tracker doesn't reduce the premium? The only risk once you have a tracker is for damage to the car which is easy to assess based on your record.

You'd have to be a real pro to get away with stealing a tracked car... why are the big insurance companies not pushing for this to be installed as standard equipment?

GIO told me that the tracker was a waste of money as the insurance policy is enough...ie if it gets stolen who gives a toss?!?!

A few years ago most insurance companies would give a discount for having them. I used to get a $500 discount on my MX-5 due to it. Now I think they realised they were given money away and charge the same regardless.

Got a premium of $960 from AAMI. Spent half a day on the phone at the dealers tring to get it finalised though so I could take the car home. AAMI had a change of heart when I went to finalise the insurance and told me (after quoting $960 the previous day) that they wouldn't insure me at all! They came good in the end but took loads of swearing followed by lots by lots of begging and pleading.
