Default Buying a 350Z

Hiya,

In February I am going to buy a 350z Track. I am pretty damn excited about it. I love it

One question though for my fellow Aussie 350z owners... how much should I actually expect to pay for this beast? I'd especially like to know from people who have bought (or got a solid quote) within the last 3 months. From what I read Nissan has cut $3000 and people are able to get the Track on road for as low as $65,000 since the RX8 is selling so well at the lower price.

So just asking you all if this is the sort of ballpark I should be aiming at as I don't want to let myself get taken for a ride by the dealer.

I am in Melbourne and will soon start shoppin around. Thanks for ya help and I'll hopefully be in a nice new Z in a month

I've been following this forum and droolin over the Z since it came out. Finally got the cash... damm I want that car.

Just shop around, you'll end up with a good price.

Nissan isn't moving these cars so they'll be more willing to negotiate. Then again if the dealers are anything like the ones i've encountered you'll hate the experience (talking to nisfit dealers that is).

Good luck on the purchase... And don't buy from a dealer you don't like.

Welcome to the Z club!

65K will be a really good pirce though... and Zuff is correct... don't buy the car from the dealer that you don't like! Since you are in Melbourne, try Garry Rogers in Glen Waverley! They are great and I know the boss well! The service department people are fantastic too!

cheers and all the best to your shopping!

You'll love the car!

I think you'll probably end up paying closer to $68K all up (with stamp duty etc etc) for a brand new track with your discount - good for you if you get it cheaper.

Good Luck

Was chattin' to a guy at Gary Rogers the other day. Told me they had one (track?) with 10k goin' for $55. Not a bad discount for a few km's on the clock.

Could do a lot of mods with the extra few grand!!!

Im sure you can do a better deal than $55k on that car, I bought mine for $60k with 43kms on the clock (unwanted price )

I paid $65k drive away with tint and mats for a Track model from Northern Nissan in Bundoora. I had a really bad experience with City Nissan here in Melbourne even though my mate's cousin worked at that dealership he wouldn't help me out, said the best he could do was $62k drive away for the Touring. Tosser!

In anycase, i also got a firm quote of $64k drive away from another dealer but not sure if that was genuine or not. Good luck and let us know how you go!

existing car lease goes till April, don't want to be up for double payments.

Pretty scary I must say with all the issues in here. Anyone got a checklist of problems to look for upon delivery?

Sounds like an independent check of wheel allignment is required for starters. Reckon Nissan will pay if it found to be out???

Let me start this off,

I can expect

bad allignment
feathering of tires
damaged paint at the front if I drive on the road
possibility of a lemon gearbox

anything I have missed?

by the way,

Pewter is more slippery I suspect :-)

Your car and it's problems are like any vehicle, it's luck of the draw if you get a lemon or not.

I've had neary a problem to speak of. My alignment was off a bit but not enough to make a lot of difference.

The gearbox is just a matter of getting used to the pattern and the close ratio, for some reason gaining a few more Kw with a decent exhaust has made my gear changes a lot smoother.

Paint chips are a hazard of having a low slung car as far as I'm concerned. There is a big slab of bumper up front and the lower you go the more stones you catch. Of course the color is directly related to the amount of damage shown. The platinum paint hardly shows up a nick because of the lack of contrast between it and the undercoat, something else to add to the list of why its the best color.

Tyre feathering? Nope, never experienced it and I do 3000km a month.

Don't count all the problems experienced by the Americans as still existing in the latest model vehicles. Some of those threads have been around for a long time and a lot of problems have been fixed since they started.

Don't let all this put you off, this forum is a bit of a micro-enviroment and we tend to make a lot noise about problems that you may not even notice if you haven't read them here.

I don't think there is one person here who has regretted buying their Z. Am I right? F'kin 'A' I'm right...
