Well what can i say... woke up this morning to find my 350Z not parked in front of the house. There was some broken glass on the ground but not much. I didn't hear anything...

I called the cops, went over to make a report and then called insurance to make a claim. I've got a rental car for up to 3 weeks which was included in my policy with RACV.

Now there's not much else to do but wait... the cop thinks the car has either been stripped for rebirthed rather then joy riders but who knows!!!

The car was only 10 months old and had just done 9000km...

On the plus side, most insurance companies offer new for old within the first year. Is that the case with RACV?

If so, you should have a new Z baby.

How well are these cars protected from this sort of ****? Surely they have some kind of anti-theft somethin or other?

Have an immobilser but that's all. Immobalisers are no good if your side glass if smashed, handbrake released and car towed!!!

My sympathies goes to you melb350Z. I hope you get your replacement ride soon.

This is the first Z that I've heard gotten stolen.

 

RACV would have replacement option so there's a small plus - just need to wait on expected delivery date.

For your sake I hope it's not recovered!!

BTW, are you still going for a new Zed??? Or you are going for another car?

i think if the insurance co gave me a cheque, i'd go buy a demo or almost new Track and spend the difference on wheels, stereo, hi-tech and possibly some type of FI if enough cash was left over... hehehe

or just go and spend the best week of my life in Vegas haha

I picked up my rental car yesterday, it's a $19,990 drive away no more to pay Nissan Pulsar! Brand new too, only 2000km done on it!

As for my Zed, there were no mods done to the car except for a stubby attenna. I'm not really sure what RACV are going to do or how long i have to wait, i'm guessing up to 3 weeks considering that's how long i have the rental for?

In anycase, since the car was only 10 months old i believe it is new for old. What would i do if i had the option of getting a new 350Z or a payout? I'd probably take the payout... i don't really know what i would replace the Zed with, might even buy a 2nd hand Zed. Who knows, i think it's best that i wait and see what happens before i speculate on what car i want next! BUT considering i've owned a Zed, i might try something different... i'll keep you guys posted on what insurance says and what i decide.

 

Sorry to hear mate, I hope you can resolve with the insurance sooner!!! Maybe you could using this chance to upgrade to roadster. As for the parts, I think most of us have insurance with the Z, btw, who will allow the panelshop to use 2nd stolen parts on a new car like this? The only thing I can think with is if someone recently total lost their Z, and some dude bought it dirt cheap from the auction or PS, they may try to stolen some other Z for recover parts...........just my guess

Again, I will never parked my ZR in a unsafe place or out of the range of my pager alarm.

I would recommend replacing your vehicle with the same model, colour, etc, etc as you may find that if you want the money it will be settled on the market value (unless you have an agreed value policy) as opposed to the insurer taking the option of replacing your vehicle.
