Default Rear Number Plate moulding

Whilst catching up on some irrelevant posts this morning I noticed that the US mode Z dosen't have a rear plate moulding like ours (Australian).

I was wondering if anyone has actually removed the moulding to see what it looks like underneath as I might take my moulding off as it dosen't fit flush and has some movement in it.

Here's a link to show the rear end of the US model

Well I've answered my own question. The Aussie Z simply has a hole cut in the middle of the bumper and the moulding then fills the hole.... oh well

The only thing I can think of is that the rear bar was designed for maybe the american market who have smaller number plates than us?? The when the Australian model was produced they realised the original size was to small so they had to improvise, and what we have was their best effort??
