It's that time of year again for another set of race tires

Has anyone had an experince with the new Avon Tech R tire for autocross. Looking at Tire Racks web site they have the same tread wear rate as the Hoosiers, but does not mean they preform the same.

 

One of the guys on s2o had a set of avons last year, they had some major seperation issues. Not sure if that problem has been fixed or not...

 

I ran on the Avons last year with great success. I used 275/40 on 17x9 wheels. They work well and are durable. One of our local guys in a DSP Cougar compares them to the AS304 thus: the Hoosiers seem a little better in transient; the Avons have the edge in braking and acceleration, and warm-up time is similar.

I may buy more when they come in the 18" sizes I'm using this season.

 

I went ahead a bought Hoosier in a 27540r17, I had good luck with them in the past. The avon still intrest me, maybe next season.
