RacerFactory.com is putting on one of its open track weekends at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park on March 19th & 20th in Pahrump, NV. Pahrump is about 45 minutes from Vegas. The track is 2.2 miles long and is more technical than fast, although I was hitting 104 mph on the back straight in a stock 350Z my first time ever on a track. They are extending the track to 4.2 miles soon, but I don't know if the expansion will be finished by this event. It is $300 for the weekend. Get more info and sign up at www.RacerFactory.com. GOOD THINGS TO HAVE BEFORE A TRACK DAY:

1. High temp DOT 3 brake fluid is a must. I boiled my stock brake fluid half way through my first track day causing my brakes to go out going into turn 5. I now use Wilwood 570. Other good ones are ATE Super Blue and Motul RBF 600.

2. Chase Cam suction cup camera mount. Make sure you get good in-car camera footage of your track events. Definately not a necessity, but definately a cool thing to have. www.chasecam.com

3. CG Lock seatbelt locking devise. Good cheap mod that is super easy to install and un-install. It mounts to your stock seat belt and allows you to tighten it so you don't move around your seat in those turns letting you concentrate on driving. 4. Good brake pads. Not a must, but a good idea because track racing will eat your stock brake pads. Plus a good set of track pads can withstand a much higher temperature. I use Cobalt GT-Sport brake pads. www.cobaltfriction.com
