Another well written post on the RA experience!

Too bad your school cars made you shift in the middle of the carousel. Not sure I'd want to do that at "full tilt boogie" mode!

If you think the kink is scary in the school cars, try it in a Z as the approach speed is well over 100 mph.! But done right, 140+ is seen entering Canada corner.

So there is a turn #13?

NOW, how did you like the Brat's?

{Most definitely that was a disconcerting thing to do, but it is about 1/3 into the turn so not horrific. Still, it had to be done of lose gobs of speed}

{In the school cars it is over 100mph as well, and they have good lateral grip, but the top end is well short of the 140mph you mention as there is just not enough displacement working for you. The wings also slow you down a bit in the wot 5th gear runs, part of the cornering compromise.}

So there is a turn #13?

{LOL, yes in fact they call it 13A and 13B. As you go under the bridge the camber change in the curve shoves you way out to track right so you have to gut it out to keep the throttle all the way down as you keep drifting to that edge. But it sets you up very nicely for diving for the late turn entry to #14. It is a very nifty segment I think.}

{No question about it, the food was/is great. And unlike our little fancy chic style fare in lotus land, it is loaded on the plates in abundance. I had hash browns as a side at breakfast one morning and I think they put it on the plate using a shovel! }
Fun experience and a great track. I really wish we had it a little closer to California so I could take my G there. Maybe someday, sigh.

Try the kink on a bike. You shift to 5th as you enter. And that was just on the 600SS bike. The kink is one of the fastest corners in NA.

I broke a colarbone in 2 places, scapula vertically and horizontaly, and a concussion all in turn 5. One of the guys I passed out of turn 3 tried to out brake me after I had gapped him 10+ bike lengths. He hit the rear wheel of my bike as I was tipping into the corner. I remember hearing a bike motor screaming and thinking someone is blowing off the corner. Next thing I know, Sky, Ground, Pavement, Cute EMT rolling my battered body over.

This was during the EBC Sportbike race in '97. Back when I did thinks like that for a living.

BTW, Best Track Food Ever. Period.
