CT-1 SwayBar
The CT-1 swaybar has been tested and the final design submitted.Specs are as follows:
1 3/8" solid
3 position lever arm
collars
Fits OEM mounts and links
Stiffness...compared to OEM '03 = 35,62,98 % stiffer
" OEM '04/'05 = 15,40,70% stiffer
position 1 for wet surface
position 2 for asphalt & low grip concrete
position 3 for high grip concrete
If you want one contact Sam Strano at strano@stranoparts.com
Sam will place order for the first production run based on interest.I suppose volume will determine price.

I am not personally in the market for a front bar, but am curious to know your design requirements and what you were trying to accomplish with this one.
Are none of the exisiting bars on the market stiff enough for autox stock classes?
Just trying to spark a friendly sway bar discussion. More options are always a good thing. Maybe some of your research can help us road racers.

Andrew...I forgot the lever arm distance for the new hole you drilled.Remind me and I'll calculate stiffness versus CT-1.
For daveh.....our new CT-1 bar is stiffer than anything currently on the market. We are trying to develope a bar stiff enough to eleminate rear wheel spin and keep understeer in control with the other stock class adjustments(alignment, shock rebound & bump). Not an easy task.Based on our testing and event results so far this 1 3/8" solid bar may be as stiff as one can go on an '05 Track.

On your CT-1 front sway bar, what bushing's do they come with?
Curious, if I wasn't bound by class rules and I have a setup that's trying to address rear wheel spin with higher front spring rates (which I will only stick with if my own testing bear's fruit). Why would I have a need to chase such a high front bar strength? Am I right and thinking that your target market, meaning those that stand to benefit, is to those that are bound by SCCA class rules?

Yeah, I got first place but just barely. It was a fun weekend there was alot of good competition, I think there where 9 drivers total. Top 3 was 350z (me), RX8 and a 99 Mcoupe.
I DNF'd my first 2 runs on saturday and had to drive slow on the last one to keep it clean. Was down .2 going into sunday. The RX8 really shined on Sundays course which was a super technical speed mantainance course.
Falkner ended up not showing up, which is probably a good thing because I wasn't driving as well as I should.

Great News Andrew...a win is a win is a win.....particularly good with the hole you dug with the two SAt DNF's.
When you measure your lever arm it should be 7-8" hole center to bushing mount center.

You are correct...CT-1 is specifically for SCCA Bstock 350Z's.Also,we are not trying to sell bars, just share our Z autox setup development with other Z drivers.
By our measurements the '03 bar has a 5mm wall and the 04-05 has a 7mm wall.
We use stock mounts/bushings/links with CT-1.

I am on the list for the CT-1 bar, can't wait to try it.
Gsedan35,
I don't know what to tell you. Jim Thompson did the calculations based on my measurements and the 04 bar ended up being stiffer. I don't know what else to say.. I really don't care if you believe me or not. If you want the measurements to calculate the stiffness yourself, let me know and I'll email those to you.

For those interested here are our relative stiffness calculations for the bars of interest.....reference is the '03 OEM bar and lever arms are considered equal(and they are not) so this is a comparasion of bars only based on measured dimensions:
OEM '03 34mm,5mm wall..................ref
OEM '04,05 34mm,7mm wall..................+17% stiffer
Hotchkis 35mm,6mm wall..................+25
CT-1 1 3/8" solid.......................+48

OEM '04,05 34mm,7mm wall..................+17% stiffer
Hotchkis 35mm,6mm wall..................+25
CT-1 1 3/8" solid.......................+48

Rather not talk about it but since you asked.Strange year so far.Two Tours,1st in both and two Pros, way back in both.So far the car does not like the short courses or our short course driving sucks or both.
At Oscoda we drove both Saturday heats with the car doing funny things and not responding to our setup changes(second half of the course was painfully tight, even for a Pro). That evening we found the left front sway bar link was loose...wonder who did that. Then it rained Sunday morning and that was it.
The Peru Tour this weekend should be a good indicator of how the car will do at the Nat'ls...just about all the top BS cars in the midwest and East will be there.
