Tell me about Peru
I didn't get to go... I'm looking over the results and it seems as if the RX8 and the 350z are pretty evenly matched on the concrete. Was GH Sharp's car prepped? I'm very curious about the course layout and if it favored either car. Anyone wanna give me a rundown of B-stock in Peru?
I wasn't there, but I can say that GH Sharp was running Mark Sipe's RX-8, which has the right bits -- sway bar, custom double-adjustable Konis. Problem is that their front sway bar apparently came adrift on Sunday, leading to horrendous oversteer and wheelspin. Amazing that GH won despite that...
Hey Andrew....based on the results to date I think it is safe to say that there are at least four cars that can win BS Nats this year...in alphabetical order...Mazda RX8,Nissan 350Z,Porsche 968 and Toyota MR2T and there may be an M3 that will be in the mix.
Peru was interesting. The Saturday course was a little tight for Peru and we missed our setup. As a result we were changing rebound, bump, swaybar setting and tire press every run after the first to overcome push.By Carters last run we had it about right and he did a good job getting back in the hunt.Andy drove very well and GH and Mark had a good setup and set the high mark from the getgo.
Sunday was a faster more typical Peru course and our setup was good from the start.GH had a hot first run and then Mark went out,had problems and they worked on the car, both ends for the remaining runs just like we did on Saturday.Andy continued to drive very well and had the best raw time of the day.Carter had the best clean time of the day on his second(but not by much) and had a chance to take the lead,Andy and GH did not improve on their third.Carter's third looked smokin fast but was much slower than his second. He must have over driven the tight sections in the first part of the course cause he looked very fast in the remainder.
All considered it was a great event with really good competition. You should have been there. See you in Nashville.
