autocross pics
Here's my favourite pic of me so far...
There was no air available to increase my pressure. From the pic, would you suggest more pressure? I usually run 45psi on the stock Potenzas, but was running 41psi in the pic.

I've run as much as 50 PSI in the stock Potenzas during practices. And yes, I practice what I preach -- I do run quite a few practices on street tires instead of DOT-R tires. It helps keep me from developing or reinforcing any bad habits I might pick up by running DOT-R tires all of the time.
Sorry my pics are down, had a little problem with the gallery software, it'd gone corrupt twice in the past two weeks now. Time for a complete software overhaul. Just need to find the time to do that now
Here's a couple of action shots from this summer.
With the wider rims this season (18x8.5 all round) I'm able to run ~42 psi front & rear.

I think it could be a class champion, with the right driver. In BS at nationals there are realy, really, good drivers in an MR2T and a 996 but I think the setup is there for the Z to beat them all.
I am in 2nd in my Kentucky region BS class after 6 races, I drive a G35, and there are about 6 people at each event, I am a rookie autocrosser. The guy in 1st has been doing this for 25years and has been in the same car (mr2 turbo) for the last 5-6 years.
The short answer: yes it is a contender.

There are things that driving an MR-2 or Miata will teach you that driving a Z will not.
For example, learning to keep your momentum. For a Z, it has so much power that you can get away with over-braking, with a Miata you need to keep the car moving.
Another example, learning how to choose the proper entry speed into a corner. For the Z, if you are a bit too fast or a bit too slow, you can "feather" the throttle to scrub off speed or squeeze on throttle to add speed. "Feather" the throttle in a mid-engine car, and the back end will come around so fast that you won't even realize that it's happening until you're backwards.
Learn how to drive them at their maximum abilities, and when you get in a Z you'll just be fast-fast-fast. The same techniques that work in them work very well in a high-powered car -- and probably better.
