Default Just back from Gingerman, Here's tire temps

On sedan with V710 245's on four corners. Using coupe alignment specs:

(From outside to inside)

Front 162; 165; 167
Rear 161; 167; 171

What does this mean?

Do you have all four tire temps?

The inside to outside tire temps should be 5 to 10 degrees hotter.
The middle tire temp should be right in between.

You need to average the tire temps:
- on all four corners
- Left and Right
- Cross
The goal is to get the average tire temps at each tire as close to each other as possible. By averaging them it will tell you how you need to tune.

That is a good question! I have a few questions for you:

Did you drive the car 100% until you pulled into the pits?

Did you use a probe pyrometer or infrared? If you used a probe did you stick it into the tread? How far?

In what order did you take the temps?

What is the track configuration like in the last mile before the pits?

Without knowing any of the background, the temps look pretty good. If you didn't drive it hard all the way in, it is quite possible that they equalized and that you may not be able to learn much from the data.

Unfortunately, I did not track hard the last lap (mandatory cool down). So it sounds like the temps are worthless. I am using a Longacre probe suggested by Gsedan35 and pushed the entire probe into the tire - about 3/8ths inch. I took the temps from the outside inward. driver front, passenger front, passenger rear and then driver rear. The temps from side to side were within 1 degree or so of it counterpart.

I need to hot pit for this I guess. So who's up for Mid-ohio?

You definitely have a quality pyrometer and it sounds like you have the probe technique down.

One more suggestion - typically I take my tire temps by side of the car, rather than by axle pair (LF,LR then RF, RR for example.) I start with side that was on the outside of the last corner before the pits. I'm most interested in comparing front and rear balance, so I want to minimize the amount of time between readings of the front and rear tires.
