I've run with them in the midwest. The groups have been smaller and they ran on time. While the instructors are ok (I did have a great one twice), if I were a novice I would not start here. I think NASA, SCCA or a school is a better choice for starting out.
Have run with them a few times, 2X in my old 240SX and 2X in the Z. They are pretty well organized, and run groups are smaller then others i've seen and been in...SAFETY, is a big issue, they are quick to pull you into the hot pit when you screw up...I took the beginners class a long time ago, it was cool, we got to do stuff that some of the advanced groups weren't allowed too.. Price is better than most, not as good as others...but overall experience was worth it. Tommy (I believe the owner, CEO, pilot...??) is a cool guy and is a NISSAN guy..at least last I saw...(carbon fiber S13)
Me and some guys from work are lookin at the NOV 11/12 at Streets of Willow.
Just my .02

I've run in several of their So. Cal events. Not as good as NASA, but I had a good time every time and will go again. They run a bit late on the schedule, but they tend to make it up by running a little later into the evening.
Well... I ran with them once about 2 years ago at Streets of Willow doing some chassis tuning. I had problems with a couple of the other attendees who did the drift thing on the skid pad during track sessions. These two would enter the skid pad from the track and try to drift around it to the front straight every lap. They were not very good at it, spun often, were generally slow and erratic everywhere else on the track, and were classed in the advanced group.
Since this was a grip event it seemed out of place to me so I mentioned it to the organizers. They thought it looked "cool" and let it continue. I packed up and went home. Safety was not a big concern at that SpeedTrials event but things have probably improved since then.
