Default Tires for OEM 17" wheels

So I am just begining to Autox, and my mods are just appareance. Unfurtunately with 19" wheels I get bumped to BSP.

So I want to buy some good performance tires that fit my stock 17" wheels for autox events, any recomendations. They wont have to be conforable, since I will just get them on for the events. Any suggestions?

Also would adding hubs make any difference, front, back, or all around?

your appearance mods will most likely land you in BSP anyway.

for tires, there are the hoosiers and kumhos. you can pick. visit tirerack.

They told me last time I was BS with my mods, they dont make my car any diferent, but when I told them I had 19" wheels they told me that is +2 sizes, so they bumped me to BSP just for the wheels.

it would help if we knew what the mods were, but, the rules of BS do not allow anything other than those stated in the SCCA rulebook. even if it's a shift ****.

the rules don't always have to make sense either, but rules are rules. why would having a 2" larger diameter wheel put you into a faster class? it doesn't matter if it doesnt do anything, makes you slower, etc. it's still a modification... and any modification other than those stated in the rule book are illegal for stock class.

I have a lip, sideskirts, and a rear lip. Nothing major. Apparently wheels are something they care too much about, I guess beacuse when you plus size, usually the wheels are wider too, and you get better traction or handling...

I I decide to get tires with the same size all around, will it help me for something? I wont be able to rotate anyways, will I?

PS. jun14dcr, thanks for taking the time to read my thread and reply.

yeah, usually body modifications can be seen as aerodynamic enhancements, placing you out of stock into whatever respective class you go into, in your case, BSP.

er, the disadvantages are greater going to a 19" than the advantages of having 'more traction' if infact you do go with a wider wheel

personally, i ran a 245/275 set up and thought the car understeered heavily, more so in slow speed situations than fast transitions.

i changed my front bar to medium and have been borrowing wheels with 245s on all corners and love the way it feels. i'm sure 275s all around would feel equally as good, although some people don't like the 'mushy' feeling a 275 gives on a narrow wheel.

no prob though, i've got nothing better to do.

275 all the way around. But like others have said, your car isn't BS legal with the mods, so you'll be running BSP most likely anyways.
