This was posted over in the "Wheels, Tires Brakes and Suspension" forum but it's just as relevant over here - thanks to Brian (Volk350Z).

im pretty sure these tires wont make it to the states. they dont need another r-compound tire if they have the RA-1.

since toyo released their RA-1 early this year, theres no way they will replace it with this one. it takes a lot of money to manufacture a tire; and to replace the RA-1, thats only been in the market for less than a year, is foolhardy.

That makes sense. I didnt think of how long the RA-1 has been out. I have'em and love em. But I'm going to need new ones after one more run probably.

Maybe I missed something, but the Toyo RA1 has been around since at least 1998. Did they do a redesign last year?

The other thread indicated that they were being released at SEMA.

Some people with connections already got theirs....

I don't know when they came out, but the other guys is way off. They've been out awhile.

The T1-R came out this year and even though it sounds like a R compound, it's a performance summer tire that replaced the T1-S.

RA-1's have defeinetly been around for some time.

I have a set of these, they're much better than the RA-1 especially when exiting the corners you could feel the difference, I'm using them on an S2000 for track work.
