Default Camera mount

Please post pictures of your camera mounts. I'm looking for ideas for autocross recording.

Thanks.

Hell, there's not enough duct tape on a roll to hold a camera down while being slammed around the course. Somehow, I'm surprised that passes tech.

I'll try to take some pics of the mount that I made. I took 2 pieces of PVC pipe and put a "t" between them and capped off the "T". I put a bolt and a nut through the T that is the size of the hole in the bottom of the camera. Then I drilled holes in the PVC pipe so that it would line up with the headrest, and then I took the headrests off and put them through the "mount" It worked AWSOME, and it only cost about $7 max.

I have one of their 3 suction cup mounts (4 years old now), and it works very well.

I have the IO Port (www.ioportracing.com) and it works well. The multi adjustment features allow you to position it on harness bar and roll cage easily....under $100.

I just bought my setup in April, I have Adobe premier for editing.. hopefully I will get some good stuff out next week after zdayz

One note to you guys... you NEED to get a Wide end conversion lens for your camcorder. I noticed we are missing a lot of the angles when you use the normal lens only. I picked up the Sony VCL-E07A for under $50 at Best Buy.

The difference could mean having the view including both side mirrors versus just seeing through the front window and the lane in front of you.

Thanks everyone.

I am looking just for mounts, not camera systems, as tempting as they are...

That ChaseCam 3-suction cup with extension looks like it would do the trick for my digicam. I'm hoping to mount it on the inside of the hatch window between the seats. Any comments on vibration in the videos?

Manfrotto makes one too and it has additional leg to support the suction mount to reduce vibration. Thanks.

Vibration isn't too bad, even right at the start. I've got a couple of videos, one from my SpecV and one from my Z. My camera is mounted on this: ChaseCam Window Mount, Triple Suction Cup Base

SpecV: 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R SpecV
350Z: 2005 Nissan 350Z Track Model

Where do the suction cams go? On the passenger window?

I want one for mynext event as well.

Thanks.

That looks like the placement I'd like. Do you have it mounted on the hatch window? Do you have a picture of the mount inside your Z?
I want to use this for my digicam, so I'm hoping there's enough stick on the mount for the camera to sit upright, but it doesn't look that way.

I kind of have a cheesy setup. I have a lipstick camera mounted under the rear hatch window. It would then have a mic on the license plate and a camcorder inside the car with input feature to capture it. I think the whole setup was $150. As long as the sun isnt too bright, I can usually get decent videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24ziLMi2X-8

Ok, what was I thinking when I asked that question considering the answer was already on this thread?

Those look like they would do the job great.

I don't have any pictures, sorry. The camera mount has two of the suction cups as tight to the high-mounted stoplight as possible, then the camera is mounted on the extension, and ends up very close to the bottom of the high-mounted stoplight. Kind of hard to describe, but if you start with the mount on the rear window, you'll see how I've got it mounted.

I'm using a Canon DV-25 camcorder.

I put mine here.

I have found that a video camera has some stability issues due to the amount of weight (hand held cams are heavy) that is up on the camera mount at least for autoxing it does. Also the shock and vibe has caused interesting issues with tape based systems. I changed to a compact flash system (ChaseCam PDR100) and it made a world of difference in the quality of recordings with high moments of inertial change.

The bullet cam also make a difference as there no weight to it. let me know if you want to see video output I can link in a few files. (we just finished Hatfield and McCoy trail riding with a helmet camera so I have that too)
