$2008 Challenge
Alright so a buddy of mine just competed in the 2007 challenge and made me jealous. I'm looking into entering in the 2008 challenge but I'm hung up on a car to choose. Obviously I'd like somethig that is relatively easy to find parts for but I'd also like to get something unique. Here is my list of cars that I am keeping an eye out for.
The Short list:
1)Some sort of Civic
2)BMW 32--- any of this series
3)Volvo 240 GT
4)Camaro
5)something else thats less than 2 g's
What are your opinions? Like I said I just started looking but I'd like to get something in the next 2-3 months.

Having helped build a 24 Hours of LeMons car that won the inaugural event, you need to look for a something that costs about $500 (at most) as your starting point. Craigslist is your friend and you're better off buying the best condition $500 POS than focusing on a specific make or model.
I've found a 94 VW Jetta that already has some suspension and wheels along with a chip and intake but it needs a transmission. He's asking 700 so I'm thinking I could pick that up for about 600 or so but i'm trying to find out what is wrong with the transmission. It just says broken transmission.
