Yes, I know how to read the base classification rules, thanks. Maybe you have to add the +7 to your base classification, but I do not (I have an '03 non-Track.) So, yes, your situation is different than mine (fortunately for me, but unfortunately for you.)

This is the game changer...........

Like I said earlier, if you changed the size of your RA-1's to something narrower (specifically, 245 or lower), you would drop down to TTC, since you'll lose the +4 that you're currently taking for increasing the size, and get to remove one more point for running 10mm narrower than the base size for TTC. That would lose you 5 points, so you would be at 19 and able to stay in TTC. Plus, I think your car would be a little more fun to drive, and a little more responsive that way.

But, I agree that it sounds painful to have to take 7 points on top of your base classification.

Good luck!

Shocks are a must, off the shelf koni's should work fine with the hotchiks.

Gears, no points and will make one of the biggest differences. We just installed a set this past weekend in our ride, 4.08. Also don't foget a good lightwieght flywheel and clutch.

Test pipes are cheap and easy to install and add real hp.

After the RA1's wear out go ahead and jump to the hoosier r's since you will be in ttb as it is.

Personally would like to have a rear spoiler & front splitter but we're out of points.

I don't have the sheet right in front of me, but those items may leave you with few points to be played with if you want to try things.

It's our first year in the Z and with PT classes so we are still feeling out things. Not quite as simple as the ST2 rules were.

Here's how I built my car for NASA TT:

2006 350Z Base

Tire Type: Hankook Z211 C50 +7
Tire Size: 285/30-18 +7 (will be going to 275s next year)
Modified LSD: +1 (OS Giken)
Shocks (Koni Sports): +3
Nissan Comp ARBs: +2

20 points which puts me into TTB. With the 275/35-18 tires I get back 3 points which would let me stay in TTC and upgrade the springs. Unfortunately, I've been so freakin' busy in the shop I haven't been able to go out and run a NASA TT yet.

Anti-Roll Bars (ARB) and Nissan Comp is actually Nissan Motorsports. Us old guys who race Datsuns know Nissan Motorsports as the Nissan Competition Department.

whenever i get my license (hopefully this year or next), i plan to be running TTC or PTC here in socal (points are the same). i really don't want to get bumped up to "B" since, by the looks of it, my car won't be that competitive.

i'm having a good time bouncing around points just to stay in "C!" i will be using the alternate method for car weight. even after strip down of the interior, with my cage, it looks like i will be over the given base weight (which to me seems a little low). this will determine what type of tire i will be using and its width.

oh wow, i was just looking at the classes and saw that the track model Z already puts you at "C!" we lowly G35 guys start off in "D"...whew

what are the cage requirements for NASA TTB/TTC? not familiar with it...and is an SCCA regional license enough to get into events or would I have to get a different NASA license? ive tried reading up on this stuff but its hard finding good info on going between SCCA/NASA events with an SCCA Regional license.

here's a NASA link about getting a license (or crossing over). and here's a link to NASA's CCR's (if you have cage built per SCCA rules, then it will pass NASA rules). c'mon, it's not that hard

Also no cage/roll bar are required in NASA Time Trial, unlike SCCA (note some verts are the exception).

ahhh k. so it says I can only compete in events in the "region of issuance." Does that mean I can do anything in the South East (Road Atlanta, VIR, Memphis, Nashville, Barber) or just Tennessee Valley stuff (Nashville)?

thanks for the linkage and info

Not exactly sure on how the tt license works, but presume it is like a w2w, then you would have to complete X amount (probably four like in w2w) before you received a national tt license? Other can elaborate. But your region of insurance would be the southeast, so ok for Barber, Road Atlanta, Carolina Motorsports Park, Rockingham & Roebling. Again I am guessing but once you receive the national license any track and/or region you could sign up for.

I'll see if someone with more knowledge on this can post up.

With SCCA or NASA then yes it should get you in fine, just email them first since you have a provisional.

Depends on the year and version. Check the official NASA pages for an authoritative source.

Here is some quick info form the Southeast TT Director Jeff E. , should help speed you up.

SCCA TT does not crossover to NASA TT..

We require a check ride and verifiable HPDE4 type experience before they get to play with us...

350Z is base TTC

NASA Comp license can run with us...
