Default In-Car communication

Anyone have any cheap solutions for in-car communications? I'm thinking of just buying a two-way handheld type deal and modding the push to talk button and relocating it to a steering wheel button. Seeing if anyone else has some prior knowledge.

I assume you mean communication between driver and passenger while you're both wearing helmets? Not pit to car?

If the former, I recommend the Chatterbox system. It's high quality, durable, and reasonably priced, about $140 for everything you'll need. I've been using one for about five years, and although I've had to replace each of the headsets once, it's performed great, and it's the system preferred by most other driving instructors I know.

The other comparable system I know is made by Nady, but from everything I've heard, it's not as reliable or well made.

I see that Chatterbox now has a Bluetooth system, but it's $180 for each side. A little too pricey for me.

Actually talking about pit to car. Thanks though. This is for the 24hrs of LeMons entry I am working on. I have access to a Racing Radios setup but I'll have to retrofit all the helmets for a mic and headphones at about a cost of $200 a helmet. Not really in the budget.

Pit to Car communications I would recommend the Motorolla set up. The helment mounted VOC mike and radios work great.
