There was a couple of guys that ... did not seem to fit the controlled, safe, instructional format that we adhere to. They knew everything there is to know when they arrived for their first event, blew off classroom, and showed bad attitude in general.
On top of that they were sharing an open-top Honda, which model is banned at some tracks because it is difficult-to-impossible to put a roll bar in it that passes the broomstick test for a guy in a helmet.
The rumour is that they were violating the limitations of "parade laps" even more than I was doing in the GT-R and, OK, I admit, I was stretching it a bit.
Oh, and Tac-M: Good luck catching my bone-stock (including factory pads) 135i! I give some 350Z's the point-by, but only track-prepared or Rev-Up Z's with very good drivers.

^ Thanks, I like the t/a volks a lot. Too bad this is what is happening way to often now.

On the positive note, they are light and very strong. And since I drive very little, they should last me a few more years.

Each club pays extremely good money to rent the track and facilities for the event. It is then the club's responsibility to keep everyone safe, and compliant with all the host venue rules. This applies to the entire day, not just hot-track periods. We put a lot of trust in drivers when we let them on track basically unsupervised. So when that trust is taken advantage of, we get upset.
What you have to remember, is we can't see all the track... that's where the trust comes in to play... so when we have two cars with three instructors pull into the pits during the parade laps to report erratic driving, we have to trust them that they're giving us correct information to the best of their knowledge.
So appearances MUST be taken into account... chances are if it LOOKS like you're abusing the privilege, and someone in front of or behind you feels strongly enough about it to pull in and tell us, it will generally be interpreted that you are.
So for everyone's benefit... these are the generally accepted rules for parade laps:
- Keep your speeds under 60mph
- No squealing tires
- No strung-out motors (many tracks here in the southeast have "quiet hours" on Sundays)
- No erratic driving (swerving, inconsistent speed, etc.)
- No passing!!!
- And more than anything... NO SLOWING DOWN TO BE ABLE TO "GET A RUN" ON A CORNER
Now... having said all that... a couple of those instructors that witnessed the parade laps took it upon themselves to make their feelings known directly to the offenders. I've only heard one side of that story, but it sounds like it was it was done in such a way that we don't particularly want our instructors doing, and it will be handled.
While I didn't get out on track (other than in the right hand seat a couple times), I really enjoyed the weekend. The skid pad was most educational...and a LOT of fun. Even though I'm not a track guy yet...I felt like I was welcome, which is always nice. Thanks for running a great event and tolerating a hanger-on such as myself.
Morris, Let me know if you want a CD. The pic of you going into turn 11 looks sweet in high res! Let the #68 350Z driver know as well. I have some good shots of both of your cars.
I will let Andy (other black 350) know as well.

You can't do that...and expect nothing but this....
nemesis !!!!
