Cheapest setup?
Used to occasionally race track in the UK, but now I'm in the US and the missis and I want to get into autox. Me in the z roadster and her in her Impreza wagon.
I do not want to use my street wheels and tires, but I have decided to go for a square setup using 17" wheels (that fit over Brembos) and a taller tire. My aim is cheapness - not weight saving.
I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a very cheap set of rims (I'd even take steel rims) and a decent budget tire. My tire choices here seem pretty different to the UK, but again, cheapness is the aim.
Most threads I've read during my search have been about either increasing competitiveness or the merits of certain wheel/tire options. I just want cheap!

17x9 5zigen FN01RC's can be had for $219 each, 10's are $229. Great wheel for the money. The 9's are only 19lbs each. Not sure what's out there for steel wheels as I've never even considered heavy wheels for any kind of competitive driving, esp since these are so affordable.
As for cheap tires are you looking for street tires or R compounds?
