Sorry to hear that. If I didn't already have a co-driver, I would have offered.

Thanks Glenn, I have had an offer or two, but since we just moved and bought a house in Colorado I don't think Nationals is in the budget. Next year though look out

Come on, guys! Concrete, bigger course area, courses designed by drivers with bigger and faster cars, it should be better courses for the Z (not to mention that the site should have more grip, which helps the Z -- and has no real effect on the RX-8s since they could flat-foot corners already).

I'd love to go - I already have the time requested off work - but my codriver is going in a mini (can't blame him; the car owner is picked to win nats), so I'm starting prep for STR. My nats budget got rerouted to car build budget.

Josh and I are passing on Nationals this year. I just can't justify the trip to myself when I have some other priorities.

FWIW, the size of the Lincoln site is the real draw for Nationals. Two big courses and a full time practice course are the reasons I am excited about the location. Should be 50-60 second courses instead of 30-40 of the last several years.

Nationals were never about the concrete for me. I ran in Blytheville and Moultrie this year and Ft. Myers/Peru in the past. Concrete sites are generally bumpy, noisy and distracting, just how concrete joints age after years of sitting in the weather. I also hate to drive on concrete highways. Even with a little less grip I personally like a nice asphalt area to autocross.

Like some others, I am also going to STR if approved next year. I don't want to change tires at an event anymore. Plus I'm looking forward to a limited slip that works better than I can drive it.

Well Glenn and I will hold it down for you guys. Hope to see everyone out there next year. And by next year, I should have a secret weapon (baring no drastic changes to BS) up my sleeve.

looks like that's not too likely. most of the proposals I've seen include the BS/CS merger no matter what else they do.

i'm no insider though, and i don't know what's a favorite for the ultimate decisions. i expect we'll get a lot closer to knowing after nationals.

still going ahead with my str build though. more fun on the street and cheaper consumables. hopefully not too much slower end product.

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear you and Josh won't be making the trip. Like you, I plan to make the move to ST* next year. I'll set my car up for STX and run it locally. Not sure what I'll run nationally... Might just take a year off national stufff.

Sorry to hear that Mike and Josh won't be making the trip this year.

I'm not sure what's going on, but for the first time in quite some time, I've already got butterflies!

Should be a fun week. Looking forward to meeting Glenn and Adam as well as seeing the rest of the BS crowd again.

Best of luck to all who are going, including forum local Davidb, who'll be going in a very well-prepped GS car!

If you come home with hardware, post up here.

Thanks all. Hopefully I'll make a quick transition to Glenn's car (didn't they change the seats between 05 and 06?!)

I'll post up after wednesday practice how I feel about the car and being on concrete. And then prelim results after thursday.

I'm glad I decided to replace the spark plugs before leaving!

Three of the plugs were pretty much shot, one wasn't fully tight (so exhaust gases were escaping). We took it for a quick drive afterwards, and WOW!
