Question Harness bar specs?

I'm thinking about building my own harness bar, but I wanted to make sure before I start selecting materials and sizes that there are no specs or rules that need to be followed for track days/lapping sessions. Obviously I'm not going to use playdough or anything but I've done a little searching around but haven't found much on actual regulations.

Any info would be great!

That is one of the best threads about the subject... Marty should add it to the FAQ section if he hasn't already
