Chasing a 370Z @ ACS
Hey all,
Here are two vids at Auto Club Speedway, SpeedVentures event.
This is really the only video I was able to capture. It's mostly all of a 370Z. This car is all stock and it's a fast machine for sure. I really had to work on chasing him down in my 350Z.
Anyway, I'm sure you all will let me know what I'm doing wrong as usual

Camera angle on the wheel is informative. I will certainly not criticise your driving. Especially since I would be behind the 370Z AND you.
BTW if you named one positive characteristic about the 370Z what would it be?
And oh yes I will be getting myself some of those awesome baby blue gloves.

Well, my driving is not the best, I can assure you that.
And of course you need the blue gloves. Everyone else likes black or red
This is what I can tell about the 370 with out actually driving it. It seems very well planted in mid turn and turn exit. In the 350, I sometimes have a hard time keeping the rear end in place. It likes to slide out and I'll have to fight it to keep it on line. It's great for drifting, but when I want to get the fastest lap times, the 350 sometimes tends to loose traction at the worse times. The 370 can enter a turn and keeps its line with out much drama. Also, the power of the stock 370 was impressive. It pulled hard down the front straight. Much faster then I thought it would. I have intake, HFC's and an HKS exhaust and I had the 370 in high-end power, I could get past him as my speed at the end of the oval was about 147mph about 10 to 15 mph faster then the stock 370. The 370 can be a great track car with just a good suspension I think. I still like the rawness of the 350 though. Just something about working the 350 is very satisfying at that the track.

I'm sure I was over driving the car. The tires are Nitto NT-01's. A great track tire that never really get to cooked on the track. I highly recommend them.

Thanks! Yup, it's an HR. I have the NT-01's on the stock 18" rims. I have a 245/40 up front and I squeeze a 275/35 in the rear. This is NOT the best set up, but it works pretty good.
I didn't get a chance to see Brent. I was meaning to stop by since he let us all know what garage he was in, but I never made it over. I did see a ton of GT-R's at this event though. It's a great track for cars like the GT-R. ACS always brings out the expensive hardware
u got more negative angle upfront right?
im asking this cuz i had the same tyre setup and understeered like cr@p.
i even kept my front dampers to softer settings .
if u dont mind sharing your suspension setup.. that would be great
wait.. u mean to say you have this set up and yet the car is still throwing out its tail?

I have the front's set near the softer setting, (5 clicks form the softest setting) and the rear is at full soft. Front camber is -2 rear is -3. Front toe is 0 and rear tow is 1/4 toe in.
Slow speed turn in is very neutral. Mid corner tends to lead to oversteer if I'm the gas to much. Corner exit can lead to oversteer if I'm to generous with the throttle, but it's very controllable. Mid speed turns are a bit of understeer if I'm on the gas to soon at mid corner. I can tap the brakes and fix the understeer if I need to, but most of the time I find myself fighting oversteer if I'm pushing the car. I really don't have a problem with understeer at all. High-speed turns is all on the gas and it's very natural. I get oversteer as I push the car to it's limits. My problem is more of a traction problem. I'm at the limit of traction and the rear end breaks loose. I need bigger tires, and/or smaller roll bar in the back. I think I'll try taking off the rear bar altogether and see how that works.
thanks for the info guys!
and sorry for hijacking the thread.
im going to hit the circuit and autox track at the end of this month so i was just thinking about getting my alignment and suspensions setup properly.
